We know that partnerships between education and employers make a real difference to the lives of young people. Today, it is even more important for the two to work together, so that students can learn the skills that will ensure the future prosperity of the country in the face of increasing international competition.

There are already many examples of education and employers working together to do just this. But this is not yet universal: not every young person has the opportunity to benefit from an effective education–employer partnership.

This is why the Education and Employer Taskforce has been set up and why the Taskforce – working with a range of partners – has produced these Guides. The Guides will help employers and education staff to work together even more in the future, for the benefit of all young people.
